Fires and Such

August  we mostly spent tracking the fires that were all around us.  A good portion of the forest burned.  Also our friends ranch was consistently in danger and much grazing land for cattle was burned.  Fence was burned and cattle were lost.  It had an apocalyptic feel..  Mostly it was smoky .  Sometimes there was ash falling.

We learned to follow several apps and facebook for updates on the situation and the evacuation zones.  A lot of August we were actually in the evacuation zone.  Although we never evacuated.  The way they do the mapping we just happened to be on the edge of the zone.

Every morning dad would lay out his map and figure out the total acreage burned and the total amount of containment.

We had a lot of lightening caused fires.  The area is really dry.

Because of the smoke the hospital was running big air cleaners.

In September we have entertained a lot of visitors .  My brothers have all come either to our town or to the state to see mom and dad.  That has been fun for them and for us.

We said good bye to our kids that moved to Colorado.. We went to the arcade with the boys.... and we have been continuing to enjoy our nightly dinners with us 4 ......

The local fair celebrated it's 100th year and we sat and watched the parade.  I want to remember that as the grandkids scooped up bags of candy from the floats and past princesses... Tripp yelled "WE ARE WINNING"

Kris has been fishing bi-weekly.

Relief Society is now my life.  It is a lot.. but also nice to try and help the ladies in our area.

This weekend we will be doing a super swap.  It is basically where you bring your junk and exchange it for free for someone else's junk.

I am a little afraid after the dust settles we will just have mountains of junk to haul away.  But we  shall see.

That is how things are.
