After 18 months of service in St. George our Hailey Mae returned to us this week. We traveled to the airport, sign in hand to await her deplaning. We had our two oldest girls with us. One by one several people stepped off the plane. Two other sisters got off. Still we waited. An older lady came up to us and said she had sat by her on the plane and not to worry, she was coming. Several more minutes came and went and then finally .. we got to hug our little missionary. She had taken a few minutes in the bathroom to collect her thoughts. I don't think she was really ready to not be a missionary anymore.
We had a nice dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and then we drove home. At 11pm she was released at our dear friends house. Tears poured down her face as she handed over her badge.
And just like that we drove home and it's like a massive injection of sunshine. She woke up at 6am the following day and started cleaning my house. She drove to the store and washed the car. She drove me to Nyssa to watch Brookie play ball. She cleaned the refrigerator. She made plans for the next 4 weeks.
Having her with us is such a blessing. I kept up the Christmas decorations so she could see everything ... Today (3 days later) we took everything down and cleaned.
This Sunday is her homecoming.
It's been a really good few days.
