7th Birthday Highlights

This masterful image (courtesy of sister Stefani's photographing talent) captures a glimpse of the princess themed birthday that we celebrated for Amanda. 9 little guests dressed in princess attire and crowns joined us at our home for the soiree.

Amanda dreamed up the theme and made all the invitations herself with her friend Gracie. When the day arrived I was worried that the Birthday Girl wouldn't make it through the event keeping her royal manners intact. But, she only had one minor meltdown after the Pinata debacle and managed to recover quickly to lead a great game of Mother May I and also host a lovely tea (juice)party with only minimal assistance. After all the princesses left, she went to our friend's home to pick up her birthday kitties-(Snickers and Reeces). She happily played kitty mommy with them for at least an hour and fed them their fancy cat food and showed them their bedchamber. She even had a word of prayer with them.

We had made it pretty clear that these cats would be outdoor cats. Thankfully they have spent their young lives outdoors and also know how to use a litter box if necessary. About midnight we were awakened by some scary cat noises. Snickers had messed herself due to extreme fright when a male stray cat terrorized the carport. Kris had to get up and clean up the kitten and then remove them to the bathroom where they spent the night recovering from their fright.

Today there has been less cat drama, except for discovering our good friend and Amanda's playmate Shaylee is allergic to cats. She came into the house with swollen eyes requesting Benadryl. Poor little girl!

Shelby is driving lots and getting ready for EFY. Stef is working lots and with her Lion's Scholarship has made enough to cover almost half of her college costs. (I may be just a little proud of her). Hailey Mae is really starting to be an accomplished pianist and Brookie is trying to decide if she is really going to be okay starting middle school in a month and a half.
