Important Questions

I think it's important in a good relationship to be unselfish and concerned about your partner. I have noticed the pendulum swinging from women being independent and self fulfilled to an increase in selfishness and concern for only their needs.

A good relationship demands not only that we think of ourselves and that we are getting what we need, but that we truly care about the other half of our coupleness.

Here is a little quiz.. If you can't answer these questions... Maybe there are some changes needed.

---What is your husband's greatest fear?

---What concerns is he facing at work?

---What are your financial issues... Are you aware of your families budget?

--Do you understand the bills and monthly payments?

--How are you helping to contribute to the financial security of the family? How are you helping keep to the budget?

--What skills do you have that you are keeping up to date in case you need to help support the family?

--What is your husband's day like at work? What projects is he working on?

--If your husband is traveling.. are you aware of the jet lag, and other logistics in his business travel?

--Are you careful to thank your husband for the contributions he makes to your family?

--What do you know about your husband's personality? How are you careful with this knowledge to protect his self esteem?

-- Are you careful with the information you share about your husband with others? Do you keep his confidences? Do you share only the best things with others?

--Do you try to put yourself in your husband's place and try to understand what he is thinking and feeling?

This is a checklist that could be used for anyone... One could substitute wife for husband in all these examples.

The great antidote for selfishness is selflessness.

End of rant. Thank you for listening.
